After completing this qualification, job opportunities include Teaching Assistant in schools, preschools/kindergartens; Education Assistant in special needs, language/literacy, cultural support; School Aged Care Assistant; and Home Tutor.

    The University of Notre Dame Australia's CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support provides you with the skills and knowledge required to support children’s development and learning within a curriculum framework, manage behaviour, work effectively with children with special needs, identify children at risk, and follow legal and ethical frameworks, including child protection and policies.

    This program is delivered face to face on Notre Dame’s Fremantle and Broome Campuses and at school and community locations throughout the Kimberley and is part-time over 12 months. You will be required to complete 17 units of competency, 12 core units and five electives, to be awarded a CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support qualification.

    This program is suitable for school leavers or other interested persons wanting to gain employment in the education sector and current employees in the education sector wishing to qualify.

    This program is subsidised by Jobs and Skills WA for people living in Western Australia.  Please note that access to subsidised training is subject to availability.

  • Real world experience

    You will learn from our academics, who are leaders in their field. You will also complete a minimum of 100 hours of work placement in an educational environment to gain valuable workplace experience.

  • Practical component

    You will complete a minimum of 100 hours of work placement in educational settings.

  • Career opportunities

    Graduates of this certificate program will be able to work as education assistants in Government, Independent and Catholic schools providing support to a classroom teacher for children from kindergarten to Year 12.
