How to apply

Candidates may apply under one of two categories, Academic Achievement or Co-Curricular Achievement and Leadership. The requirements of each category are outlined below:

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

  • A completed application form
  • Year 11 school reports and Year 12 school reports to date, demonstrating your progress towards Band 5 results in all subjects
  • A Personal Statement of about 500 words, giving your reasons for choosing Notre Dame, and showing how your experience so far paves the way for academic excellence at university
  • A certified copy of your proof of Australian citizenship
  • At least one written reference testifying to your motivation, personal qualities and academic potential
  • Any supporting documentation from Year 11 onwards which demonstrates your academic potential

CO-CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENT AND LEADERSHIP

  • A completed application form
  • Year 11 school reports and Year 12 school reports to date, demonstrating your progress towards Band 4 results in all subjects
  • A Personal Statement of about 500 words, giving your reasons for choosing Notre Dame, and showing how your co-curricular achievements paves the way for excellence at university
  • A certified copy of your proof of Australian citizenship
  • Proof of consistent voluntary commitment, during Year 11 and 12, to your community, church, sporting or cultural organisation or outstanding achievement in one or more of the fields of social justice, sport, or the arts
  • Contact details for a referee who can verify your experience or achievement
  • At least one written reference testifying to your motivation, personal qualities and academic potential

EXAMPLES OF CO-CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENT AND LEADERSHIP

  • School leadership positions – School Captain, Prefect
  • Peer support and mentoring programs
  • Volunteering and/or fundraising for organisations such as St Vincent de Paul, Canteen, Legacy, Red Cross, Keep Australia Beautiful, Surf Lifesaving and St John Ambulance
  • Involvement with church leadership, choir or ministries
  • Duke of Edinburgh Silver or Gold awards
  • Debating at State or national level
  • Involvement with drama or film clubs, national awards or representation
  • Musicianship – Achievement of Australian Music Examination Boards (AMEB)
  • Representation at a state or national sport level
  • Selection in NSW All Schools Championships
  • Training with the Australian Institute of Sports or state-based institute
